Q&A with 2018 ‘New IT Product of the Year’ Winner – iManage

Netlaw Media talks with iManage, to reflect on their success at being awarded ‘New IT Product of the Year’ at The British Legal Technology Awards 2018.

How do the team at iManage feel having won the ‘New IT Product of the Year’ award?
The British Legal Technology Awards recognise the UK’s best and brightest in the legal industry, so for iManage RAVN Extract to be named New IT Product of the Year was a big achievement for the whole RAVN team.

Being recognised is testament to the level of expertise and passion we have within the company, so yes, we were very proud and quite honoured to win.

This is the second consecutive year iManage has been recognized for transforming how law firms and legal departments get work done, as iManage was named IT Security Provider of the Year in 2017.

Two years running – quite an accomplishment!

In your opinion what do you believe made your entry stand out to the judges?
Every year, law firms are spending millions of hours extracting key data points from unstructured legal documents stored in different locations throughout the firm’s system. This manual process not only takes time and can be very expensive but it is also prone to errors, which can enhance reputational risk.

iManage RAVN powers iManage’s vision for AI augmented document management and is driving digital transformation across the wider legal industry.

We are well-positioned to expand our global footprint and disrupt new markets with our broad set of practical AI solutions.

How do you feel this award will affect business going forward?
iManage has spent a long time developing practical AI solutions to make a difference. This honour further reinforces our ability to deliver against this goal and we look forward to working in partnership with law firms to leverage AI and innovation.

Is there anything else you wish to share with our readers?
RAVN is at a very exciting phase of its development and given the rapid advancement in AI technology and how legal firms are realising the benefits of a platform approach, we are on a mission to unlock knowledge, creating the knowledge index that enable firms to build practical solutions.

Firms are really taking a holistic view of innovation in building their practical solutions so that they can run their business with efficiency and to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to dealing with evolving challenges, including competition, recruitment, talent retention and more.

iManage has the technology and vision to support firms with all this and more.

iManage is also making strategic hires as the company continues to steadily grow, including welcoming Stephanie Vaughan as Global Legal AI Practice Director for iManage RAVN and Alex Smith as Global Product Management Lead for iManage RAVN.

What was your most memorable moment from The British Legal Technology Awards 2018?
To be honoured alongside our customers and peers was the most memorable and rewarding part. In particular, iManage customer, UK-based law firm Keoghs was there and named winner in the Team of the Year category.

Dene Rowe, Innovation Director and Partner at Keoghs noted, “An integral part of Keoghs success is down to relationships with vendors such as iManage. I am delighted that iManage RAVN Extract has been recognised for Product of the Year because they are an integral part of our business and the value we can now deliver to our clients.”

Will you be entering The British Legal Technology Awards 2019?
Yes, iManage will continue to work with our clients to nominate their achievements and showcase their innovations, as this prestigious award recognises the UK’s best and brightest in the legal industry.
