
Ray is a partner at Osborne Clarke based in its Silicon Valley office from May 2023. He will be supporting the firm’s US clients on their international strategies targeting markets including the UK, EU and south east Asia.
Ray was Osborne Clarke’s UK Managing Partner between 2015 and 2022. During that time the firm’s UK revenue doubled to over £199m.
The firm now advises over 30% of the FTSE100 and both global companies and market challengers across sectors including technology, life sciences, financial services and energy.
Ray is passionate about building a strong and diverse organisation and made this a core part of Osborne Clarke’s strategy. He is a trustee of the Social Mobility Business Partnership, a member of the 30% Club, and has been recognised as an Agent for Change by Management Today for his D&I work and by Heroes as an Advocate for his commitment to inclusion.
In 2022 he was included in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 for his leadership and was named Management Partner of the Year at the Legal Business Awards.
Ray was previously head of the Business Transactions Group, which is home to the M&A, corporate finance, financial services, and commercial teams. During his 22 years at Osborne Clarke, Ray has advised on a wide range of high-profile transactions for both public and private companies including takeovers, mergers, IPO’s and joint ventures – often with a cross-border aspect. Ray qualified as a lawyer in 1992 and spent 18 months of his early career working in-house at a major international corporation in the United States, joining Osborne Clarke as a Partner in 2001.
